The aim of this study is to assess the frequency of Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency (HIV) viral infections in patients undergoing cataract surgery. This study was conducted among 1,203 patients above the age of 17 years who were scheduled for cataract surgery at Yemen Magrabi Hospital from January 1st, through December 31st, 2012. Patients had investigations for HBV, HCV and HIV and findings were analyzed. The total number of patients screened was 1,203 including 603 (51.1%) males and 600 (49.9%) females. Introduction: Sexual and injection behaviors increase the risk of HIV transmission in people who inject drugs (PWID). We aimed to determine the prevalence of sexual and drug behaviors that increase HIV risk in PWID hospitalized for infections related to injection drug use in Maine. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) pandemic has taken the greatest toll on racial and ethnic minorities in the United States. Blacks and Latinxs suffer greater disease incidence, prevalence, morbidity and mortality from HIV as compared with Whites. Similarly, the Covid-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has disproportionately affected Blacks, Latinxs, and Native Americans causing higher rates of infection, more severe disease, and higher rates of mortality as compared with Whites.
