Comparative Evaluation Of Microleakage Of Different Class V Cavity Preparation Restored With Composite In Primary Molars: An In Vitro Study, Henar E. Elsayed, Ibrahim H. El Kalla, Hossam E. Hammouda

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: To compare the effect of the cavity design and the location of the gingival wall, onenamel and cementum on the microleakage of Class V composite resin restorations in primary molars. Materialsand Methods: Class V cavity was made on the buccal surface of sixty sound primary mandibular second molar inthis study. The teeth were divided into two main groups: Group A (Kidney shaped cavity) and Group B (Rectangleshaped cavity). Each group was also subdivided into two subgroups, Subgroup A1; Kidney shape with gingivalmargin on enamel, Subgroup A2; Kidney shape with gingival margin on cementum, Subgroup B1; Rectangle shapewith gingival margin …

Comparison Between Jet Injector And Traditional Needle Syringe During Infiltration Anesthesia In Pediatric Patients, Heba O. Elbadry, Salwa M. Awad, Hossam E. Hammouda Jan 2023

Comparison Between Jet Injector And Traditional Needle Syringe During Infiltration Anesthesia In Pediatric Patients, Heba O. Elbadry, Salwa M. Awad, Hossam E. Hammouda

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective

To evaluate the pain level during infiltration anesthesia with needle free jet injectors in pediatric patients.

Method

38 cooperative healthy child aged 4–7 years were selected to be anesthetized with both methods of injection, the needles jet injector and the conventional infiltration technique. The selected group was divided randomly into two groups of 19 child each, control group I (conventional needle) and study group II (jet injector). The pain levels were measured according to Wong-Baker Faces Pain (Rating) scale (WBFPS), to determine the level of acceptance of each method. The measuring of the pain level was done after administration …

Antimicrobial Efficacy Of Different Root Canal Irrigants In Primary Teeth: Clinical Study, Nada H. Elmenbawy, Ahmed H. Wahba, Doaa Masallat, Salwa Awad

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: Evaluation of antibacterial efficacy of 2.5% Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl), 3.8% Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), and 25% water-soluble extract of Propolis as root canal irrigants in primary molars. Materials and Methods: Thirty primary molars with a necrotic pulp of children in the age group 4-7 years were selected and divided into 3 groups randomly based on the irrigating solution used. In group A, 2.5% NaOCl was used as a positive control group. In groups B and C, 3.8% SDF and 25% water-soluble extract of Propolis were used respectively. The bacterial samples were collected pre-and post-irrigation using paper points and transferred …

Microtensile Bond Strength Of Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Restoration In Carious Primary Molars Pretreated With Silver Diamine Fluoride, Weaam I. El-Tantawy, Noha A. El-Wassefy, Abeer M. Abdellatif

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: To evaluate microtensile bond strength of resin modified glass ionomer restoration in carious primary molars pretreated with silver diamine fluoride. Materials and Methods: forty carious primary molars were collected and divided into two equal groups (n=20) as the following: (Group I) the microtensile bond strength testing group and (Group II) the control group. Each main group subdivided into two subgroups (n=10): (Group I a) the microtensile testing comprised group of no caries excavation and (Group I b) group with caries excavation. (Group II a) the control comprised group of no caries excavation and(Group II b) group of caries excavation. The …

Assessment Of Parental Presence In The Dental Clinic On Their Children Behavior, Omayma M. Elsabbagh, Ashraf Y. Alhosainy, Salwa M. Awad

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: 1- Assessment of modified parental presence as a behavior management technique in a certain age group of children in Pediatric Dental Clinics of Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University, Egypt. 2- Evaluation of the parent's attitude toward this behavior management technique. Materials and Methods: Sixty children, 3-4 years old categorized as uncooperative, coming for their first dental visit and indicated for single visit dental treatment were selected. A small transparent wall next to the dental chair was used and the parent was seated near the child. If the child continued to be non-cooperative, the parent was asked to stand behind …

Comparison Of Self-Assembling Peptide With Different Remineralizing Agents On Demineralized Primary Molars: In-Vitro Study, Sara M. Elmitwalli, Rasha I. Ramadan, Salwa M. Awad

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: Evaluating the remineralization potential of Self assembling peptide (P11-4), Nano-hydroxyapatite (Nano-HA) and Casein Phosphopeptide-Amorphous Calcium Phosphate-Fluoride (CPP-ACPF) using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX). Materials and Methods: Forty enamel specimens of primary second molar were prepared and immersed in demineralizing solution for 96 hours to induce artificial carious lesions. Specimens were divided randomly according to remineralizing agents into four equal groups. The groups were named group A: control group (artificial saliva), group B: P11-4, group C: Nano-HA paste and group D: CPP-ACPF. Remineralization was carried out for a period of 21 days. Calcium and Phosphorous …

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Objective: Comparing EMLA cream versus mucosal vibration or pre-cooling systems as preanesthetic techniques to reduce pain associated with dental injection in children. Materials and Methods: Fifty children categorized as positive or definitely positive according to Frankl scale (behavior rating scale) and aged from 5-7 years were selected. They were indicated for bilateral inferior alveolar nerve block for dental treatment and selected from the pediatric dental clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University. Children were randomly divided into two equal groups, in which the injection site was prepared using mucosal vibration with electric tooth brush in group (A) and pre-cooling with iced …

Analysis Of Lead Levels In Deciduous Teeth From Children In Clark County, Nevada., Kristin Murphy, Jennifer Berger-Ritchie, Shawn L. Gerstenberger, Amol B. Amin, Jason K. Nitta, Frederick G. More, Jeanne A. Hibler, Karl Kingsley

Nevada Journal of Public Health

Background: Elevated blood lead levels (EBLL) are declining in the United States, although some population subgroups continue to exhibit significant health disparities. A childhood lead poisoning prevention program was recently started in Nevada, and many efforts have been made to support this program and increase the screening rates.

Methods: To expand the potential pool of children screened for EBLLs, a pilot study was performed to evaluate lead concentrations in extracted deciduous teeth using Graphic Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFAAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis.

Results: Lead concentrations as determined by GFAAS and ICP-MS were …
