The author comments on current Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines on the regulation of herbal supplements and compares them to international guidelines. They elucidate on how gaps in these regulations can be detrimental to the health of patients and uses this as a platform to introduce an extensive guide denoting the major biochemical changes occurring antepartum and postpartum as an explanation for symptoms often experienced during pregnancy.
