Objectives: This study aimed to develop a scale that can measure the role competency of oncology nurses during shared decision-making process. Methods: A total of 226 oncology nurses who actively provide direct care to patients from inpatient and outpatient oncology units in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest completed the online or mail survey. Exploratory factor analysis and parallel analysis showed the multidimensionality of the role competency scale on shared decision-making nurses. Results: The role competency scale on shared decision-making nurses revealed four dimensions: knowledge, attitudes, communication, and adaptability. BACKGROUND: Biosimilars provide opportunities for improving healthcare access and outcomes and reducing overall healthcare costs for patients with cancer.
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this article is to explore the history of biosimilars, regulatory pathways, and barriers to biosimilar approval. This article also aims to describe the patient and clinician barriers to biosimilars use and the progress that has been achieved since the first biosimilar approval in Europe in 2006 and in the United States in 2015.

Medico-Legal Collaboration Regarding The Sex Offender: Othering And Resistance, Mary Lay Schuster, Brian Larson, Amy D. Propen

We examined medico-legal collaboration regarding dangerous sex offenders where state legislators have adopted statutes that determine the criteria for commitment to and discharge from civil commitment programs. The application of these statutes relies on medical diagnoses of pathologies such as paraphilia, anti-social personality disorder, and pedophilia along with prognoses for cure or recidivism. In our study, we examined court opinions from commitment hearings and observed a trial in federal court on the constitutionality of these commitments. We found that one result of this medico-legal collaboration is the marginalization or othering of sex offenders by essentializing, dividing, shaming, and impeaching them. …

Young adults with neurodevelopmental brain disorders such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders (FASD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) are often provided with unsuitable public housing that is not tailored to support their differences, needs, and wants. This poster illustrates a pilot research project to survey young adults in this population to find out what their preferences are in terms of where and how they would like to live.
