Objectives: Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a common complication related to endotracheal intubation. The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of POST in patients intubated by trainee anaesthetist using Video Laryngoscope™ (VDL) or Conventional Macintosh Laryngoscope (CL).
Methods: Total 110 patient scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy were included from main operating room of Aga Khan University Hospital between June 2017-2018. The standardized perioperative protocol was used for general anaesthesia. Selected patients were randomly allocated into conventional laryngoscopy (CL) group or video laryngoscopy (VDL) group. Background: Postoperative sore throat is the commonest complication after endotracheal intubation. The efficacy of intravenous non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in alleviating postoperative sore throat has not been investigated.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of intravenous diclofenac sodium on the occurrence and severity of postoperative sore throat.

Methods: 42 in-patients scheduled for laparoscopic surgery were randomized into two equal groups to receive either a single dose of 75mg intravenous diclofenac sodium in addition to standard treatment taken at our hospital for the prevention of postoperative sore throat or to receive standard treatment only. Postoperative sore throat is a common complication of anaesthesia and can lead to dissatisfaction after surgery. Many factors can contribute to postoperative sore throat and the incidence varies with the method of airway management Methods: In this prospective observational study elective gynaecological and general surgical patients were interviewed 24 hours postoperatively to determine the presence of sore throat. Information collected included demographic data, surgical procedure, duration of surgery, airway device used and position of patient during surgery. This study was done over a period of 3 months.
