Speciated Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry In Combination With Thor’S Hammer Metaspike Technology For The Assessment Of Low-Level Biomarkers For Human Health Evaluation, Ashley Ebert

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Our research team has been focused on quantifying important biological analytes in human blood samples to delineate the biochemical processes underlying certain states of dysfunction and evaluate treatment efficacy. These efforts have been guided by laboratory measurements with the input of medical experts. Speciated isotope dilution mass spectrometry (SIDMS) explained in detail in EPA Method 6800 has been successfully applied in the quantification of an important biomarker analyte for immune function and detoxification processes: glutathione. Past research has proven the molecule a biomarker for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the form of the reduced/oxidized glutathione (GSH/GSSG) ratio, and literature has …

Emergency Care For Youth Who Experience Suicidality And Identify As Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer/Questioning (Lgbtq+): An Interpretive Phenomenology, Theresa Schultz

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Purpose: Suicide is a leading cause of death in children; youth who identify as LGBTQ+ are at an exponentially higher risk of suicide. The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of young adults who identify as LGBTQ+ and sought emergency care for suicidality when they were adolescents.

Methods: Heideggerian hermeneutics phenomenology is the research method used in this study. Youth, ages 18-25 years, who identify as LGBTQ+ and sought emergency treatment for suicidality when they were adolescents (13-17 years) were recruited to participate;fifteen youth enrolled. Individuals ranged in age from 20 to 25 years. Participants described …

Aerobic Exercise As A Pioneer Treatment For Post-Concussion Patients, Neha Bhandari May 2022

Aerobic Exercise As A Pioneer Treatment For Post-Concussion Patients, Neha Bhandari

D.U.Quark

Concussions are highly prevalent injuries in both youth and adult sports and can severely impact daily functions by impairing mental and physical health. Existing treatments, such as resting, have been found to be ineffective in promoting a faster recovery. They often lead to a decline in mental health, which can exacerbate ongoing symptoms. However, aerobic exercise is an emerging field that has the potential to make concussion recovery more effective. This literature review will explore the effectiveness of aerobic exercise on faster recovery rates, return to play, and its impact at the cellular level for concussion patients. In addition, it …
