269 Years Of Homoeopathy: The Healing Continues, Subhash Kaushik
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
As we gear up to celebrate 269 years of homoeopathy, it is a matter of pride for the homoeopathic fraternity that homoeopathy continues to evolve globally. Homoeopathy is now a widely used medical system with over 200 million users in 100+ countries. If factors such as strong evidence, wide, global usage, and economic viability can be considered as the pillars that make a healthcare model legitimate for a nation, Homoeopathy, indeed, makes the cut. Given its well-acclaimed abilities of permanent, effective, and safe treatment, homoeopathy went on to be a fundamental part of Indian healthcare. However, despite the relevance and …

Art Of Aging – A Portraiture Study, Alaina Mann
Theses/Capstones/Creative Projects
The process of aging can be viewed through different lenses within our society. In the past, scientists and medical professionals performed various studies to better understand and analyze different facets of aging, medicine, and health in general. Historically the arts have reflected multiple aspects of medicine and treatments while more recently, the arts have been used in a research capacity to provide different ways to represent illness, suffering, and care. This study used art-based research methods and portraiture to gather qualitative observations on the older populations within our community. Data collected included drawings, a field journal, and interviews. This study …

Proposed Checklist For Standardising Homoeoprophylaxis Interventions, Isaac Golden
Proposed Checklist For Standardising Homoeoprophylaxis Interventions, Isaac Golden
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Background: Results from large homoeoprophylaxis (HP) interventions support the effectiveness of HP, but their variable methodology means that meaningful summaries of the combined data are difficult to produce. Objective: The aim of this article is to develop possible ways of standardising and improving the quality of data from HP interventions. Methods: Evidence collected from some large HP interventions is summarised. A previously suggested pre- and post-intervention checklist intended to help standardise the evidence from HP interventions is critically examined. Results: A summary of HP evidence from large interventions shows that there is a growing body of data suggesting a level …

The Value In Verifying Medical Folklore, Dennis J. Baumgardner
Dennis J. Baumgardner, MD
Citing a related article published within this issue of the Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews, the author opines on why traditional ideas regarding human health can persist over decades, and even centuries, despite a lack of scientifically accumulated evidence. It is important to keep in mind that some commonly accepted truths are supported by little to no factual data, and that occasionally patients may benefit from clarification on what is (or, often, is not) actually known about longstanding “rules of thumb” (eg, certain home remedies, disease-prevention measures or behavioral concerns). On the flip side, traditions that are shown to …

Diabetes Mellitus – Defining Scope And Clinical Approach For Homoeopathic Management, N Tiwari, Prashant Tamboli
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
The study was undertaken to explore if there was a definite role of homoeopathic medicines in the management of Diabetes Type 2 and, if so, to determine the role of Constitutional and Organ remedies in its management. The comprehensive role of the individual susceptibility and miasm in the management of diabetes was also been studied. 90 patients were studied by Randomized Single Blind Clinical Trial by dividing them into three groups - Constitutional, Organ and Placebo. In the later part of the study the Cross over design was adopted between the Constitutional group and the Placebo group. Results showed that …
