Abstract
Afforestation, adding an artificial forest to a piece of land that has been barren of trees for a significant amount of time, has some seriously huge impacts on the environment. These effects can be seen as an increase in the soil organic matter, a decrease in compaction, and enhancement of porosity. In regions like western Kentucky where wooded lots are common there is a growing interest in how to utilize them so that land profits can be maximized.
