Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
The United States beef delivery system is composed of three stages: procurement, processing, and distribution. Minimization of costs associated with these stages can be accomplished best by identification of optimal plant sizes and locations. Research was directed toward an analytical approach that could be used to minimize total costs of the U.S. beef delivery system. This report will discuss the grid system used to divide the ยท United States into study units, describe features of the model used, discuss research results, and offer conclusions.
