Few debates in America are more divisive than the debate over gun control. In the wake of large-scale shootings and heightened awareness of gun violence across the nation, discussions inevitably take place over viable solutions. Some propose more comprehensive, restrictive gun ownership legislation that would limit citizens' ability to carry firearms, while others believe the solution lies in relaxing existing regulations to allow armed citizens to intervene when necessary. While these two camps often find little middle ground in the gun debate, each would likely agree on one thing: a need for clarity and greater effectiveness of current laws. This …

Given the recent increase in charter schools as an alternative to the traditional public education system, this Article explores the legal status and position of charter schools. Charter schools exhibit many characteristics of private schools, particularly in terms of management, but also retain many public school features. Thus, this Article explores areas of the law where charter schools were either classified as public or private in terms of state statutes or regulations, discussing recent and some pending litigation. In recent years, the “American Laws for American Courts” movement has swept across the country in an attempt to ban international law from U.S. state courts. This article specifically examines the Oklahoma Save Our State Amendment and the Arizona Foreign Decisions Act. In doing so, it addresses both the constitutional and policy problems with these attempts, observing that what the states have been trying to do is neither legal nor practical. It analyzes the inability of individual states to unilaterally avoid compliance with the United States’ international law obligations. This comment explores how Virginia's disenfranchisement law originated, how it has managed to survive throughout Virginia's history, and whether it may be vulnerable to various legal challenges. Part II outlines the history of felony disenfranchisement in Virginia.
