The Pacesetter Style Of Leadership, Michelle C. Dziurgot Dds
The Pacesetter Style Of Leadership, Michelle C. Dziurgot Dds
The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association
This editorial explores the pacesetter leadership style, likening it to a marathon "rabbit" setting a fast pace. Pacesetters, exemplified by figures like Jack Welch and James Cameron, set ambitious goals, driving themselves and their teams relentlessly. While effective in achieving short-term goals and maximizing team potential, drawbacks include employee stress, lack of feedback, and a "rat race" atmosphere. The author, a self-identified pacesetter with a compassionate approach, emphasizes the importance of balancing high standards with employee well-being for sustained success.

Dieters may fail to resist temptation and eat a donut; spouses may fail to control their emotions and lash out at loved ones after a stressful work day; and …

Grit And Legal Education, Emily Zimmerman, Leah Brogan
Pace Law Review
One factor that has received much attention in recent years is “grit,” which has been defined as “perseverance and passion for long-term goals.” Although grit has been studied in a number of different contexts, grit is understudied in the context of legal education. In light of the existing research regarding grit and performance, and the ongoing interest in law student learning, motivation, and performance, we undertook a research project to investigate the relationship between grit and law school academic performance. Although we hypothesized that grit would be positively related to law school GPA, we did not find a statistically significant …

University of San Francisco Law Review
This Comment illustrates that moving to a first-to-file system of patent priority would greatly benefit the biotechnology industry and the United States patent system. A first-to-file system would promote the innovative goals of the patent system by encouraging early public disclosure and providing greater certainty of protection.
