Caring For Humanity: Non-Profit Elderly Law, Sierra Samp

Capstone Projects and Master's Theses

This Capstone was an internship that focused on care in Humanity at Legal Services for Seniors. There is a journal that includes the observations of care in the law office. I focus on how attorneys care for each clients humanness while they are working on their cases. Attorneys may be doing work that can be quite intimidating, but the care they give is quite extraordinary.

The attorney-mediator may be a beneficial hybrid, but what happens when another layer is added to the attorney's functions? Specifically, what happens when the attorney takes on the role of both mediator and interpreter? Part I will provide a brief overview of the increasing role of attorneys as mediators, as well as an overview of the guidelines for mediators and interpreters. Resolving Time Sensitive Construction Disputes: Are Attorneys Just Getting In The Way?, Jeremy Winter

In addition to promoting the usage of other compelling dispute resolution alternatives such as dispute review boards, this Article advances the argument for marginalizing the over-involvement of and dependence upon zealous adversarial attorneys when attempting to resolve time sensitive construction disputes. More specifically, the remainder of this Article is divided into four main sections. Part II will introduce the construction industry's transactional system through the lens of principal construction professionals, examine the different types of construction contracts, and outline some common time sensitive construction disputes. The results of the 2016 presidential election and the efforts by the Trump administration to make sweeping changes to a wide range of federal policies have left communities across the country feeling overwhelmed and threatened. In its first year, the Trump administration has been working steadily to slash budgets for health care, housing, infrastructure, schools, and other public benefits that help low-income and middle-class Americans, while adopting policies and engaging in rhetoric that has made many immigrants, Muslims, people of color, and LGBTQ people feel increasingly vulnerable and marginalized.
