The Maine Shore And The Army Corps: A Tale Of Two Harbors, Wells And Saco, Maine, Joseph Kelley, Walter Anderson
The Maine Shore And The Army Corps: A Tale Of Two Harbors, Wells And Saco, Maine, Joseph Kelley, Walter Anderson
Maine Policy Review
By discussing the problems of beach erosion and sand movement at Wells and Saco, Maine, Joseph Kelley and Walter Anderson demonstrate how single-minded, engineering approaches to complex, interdisciplinary coastal issues can create bigger problems than previously existed. As Kelley and Anderson explain, at both Wells and Camp Ellis, the Army Corps of Engineers was brought in to construct a harbor at no local cost to the community. This was accomplished by constructing jetties, and the result has been a persistent and serious problem of beach erosion. Over the years, the Army Corps has offered further technical solutions that have served …

Conference organizers and/or faculty included University of Colorado School of Law professors David H. Getches, Lawrence J. MacDonnell and Charles F. Wilkinson.
Protecting water quality is essential to preserve the many beneficial uses of western water resources. This conference addresses the dominant federal requirements in the Clean Water Act, including the important major revisions enacted by Congress in 1987, with special attention to western problems regarding nonpoint source pollution. Developments in groundwater quality regulation are considered, as are selected issues concerning the implications of state and federal water quality regulation for the traditional exercise of water rights.

US Government Documents related to Indigenous Nations
This act, also known as Public Law 79-526 or "An act authorizing the construction of certain public works on rivers and harbors for flood control, and for other purposes" dated July 24, 1946, does a number of things, including amending previous laws, appropriating funds, and authorizing projects related to flood control across the entire United States and territories. Specific to North Dakota among the many amendments included is one that authorizes the Chief of Engineers of the United States (US) Army to "enter into cooperative arrangements with local agencies for the operation of such Government facilities for the expansion of …
