Sundarbans, the largest delta on the planet earth is famous for its marine and estuarine fish resources. A large population is dependent on fishery activity and capture fisheries is treated as the backbone of Sundarban economy. Sundarban boast around 172 species of fishes, 20 species of prawn and 44 species of crabs including two edible crabs. But fisheries in Sundarbans faces some difficult problems which have an impact on the biodiversity, sustainability and livelihood of fish resources and fisher folk viz. shrinking tiger prawn population, indiscriminate fish seed collection, lack of post harvest and other infrastructures, natural calamities such as …

Az Európai Unió országaiban a termőföld jogi szabályozása az egyes országokban ugyan fejlettebb stádiumban van mint Magyarországon, ugyanakkor -az EU tagországok közötti összehasonlításban- a szabályozás eklektikus képet mutat.
Magyarországon -másfél évvel az uniós csatlakozás előtt- a termőföldet érintő jogi szabályozás viszonylag fejlett állapotba jutott el, ugyanakkor e szabályozásban még mindig jelentős koherencia zavar tapasztalható.
Ennek ellenére -a gyakori és hol erre, hol arra hangsúlyt tevő politikai áramlatok támogatásával vagy éppen velük ellentétben- kialakult a termőföldet érintő jogi szabályozás hatóköre és gerince. Ezzel párhuzamosan –az 1989. október 23-án hatályba lépett új alkotmány keretei között– a termőföld szabályozásában kialakult egy inkonzisztens jogforrási …

The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze UNCLOS as an efficient management regime for protecting migratory marine species1, especially those with economic value. The premise, based on foundations of collective action theory, is UNCLOS cannot adequately protect marine resources. The main reasons include the dynamics involved with national sovereignty, along with UNCLOS creation of what is tantamount to a common pool, or open access resource through the development of the “high seas” concept.

A most intriguing question, and one that leads to many debates both inside and outside of the environmental health field, is a definition of environmental health. The answer given is often tempered by one's political slant (i.e., liberal, moderate, or conservative) and by one's professional training (e.g., public health sanitation, chemistry, nursing, ecology, planning, public administration, etc). Citizens have filed more than two dozen suits and sent nearly four dozen notices of intent to sue EPA to implement the Clean Water Act's once vaunted "total maximum daily load" (TMDL) program. 33 U.S.C. §1313(d). The results are striking. Since 1997, states and EPA have identified nearly 20,000 waters previously thought to comply with water quality standards that do not. Since 2000, EPA has established or approved nearly 8,000 plans that aim to make these dirty waters fishable and swimmable. EPA is under court order to move the TMDL program along in more than 20 states. TMDL litigation, particularly …

In recent years, the Seventeenth Amendment has been the subject of legal scholarship, congressional hearings and debate, Supreme Court opinions, popular press articles and commentary, state legislative efforts aimed at repeal, and activist repeal movements. To date, the literature on the effects of the Seventeenth Amendment has focused almost exclusively on the effects on the political production of legislation and competition between legislative bodies. Very little attention has been given to the potential adverse effects of the Seventeenth Amendment on the relationship between state legislatures and the federal courts.
