The area of products liability has been the subject of intense debate for the past half-century, perhaps never more strongly than the decades comprising the second half of the twentieth century. Specifically, the 1970s was the decade that introduced the judicial community to this debate. In the 1970s and a few decades prior, consumerism skyrocketed to levels never seen before in the United States and in the world. An NYC News Service examination of public filings and other documents shows the HSLDA and its state allies, while pushing to increase homeschooling, simultaneously pushes for legislative changes that have seemingly nothing to do with homeschooling -- in the past year alone, it has been fighting vaccination requirements, opposing a national child abuse registry and limiting the ability of children to get medical treatment.

William Wade Brooke, an Alabama businessman with ties to state and national Republican Party politics and scandal, was for over one year a registered foreign agent working for the office of Saad Hariri, Prime Minister of Lebanon. He was the only registered lobbyist for Hariri while he was active, and stranger yet he stated on his Foreign Agent Registration Act forms that he was working for free.
