In August 2018, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (“the foundation”) launched its Networks for School Improvement (NSIs) initiative. To further its own continuous learning as well as the learning of its grantees and the educational field, the foundation engaged the Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL) to conduct a formative evaluation of the NSIs initiative during its first two years. The research questions that guided this study were:

1. How are network hubs implementing the Network for School Improvement (NSI) strategy?
2. What are the characteristics of effective networks and network hubs?

The university traditionally has been the foundation for young adults’ professional development, yet the proclivity toward safety culture has garnered less focus in higher education than in the workforce. A survey of faculty at a medium-sized, research-active, private institution revealed specific areas of policy noncompliance as well as specific safety attitudes that can be targeted for interventions. Albeit a snapshot view, the survey implies that safety needs better representation in the classroom, teaching laboratories, and research facilities at universities. Safety is not abandoned by any means, and there is a strong presence of safety-oriented individuals, but the data show barriers …

Established in 2018, the U.S. Space Force is the newest branch of the U.S. military. The reality of space as an arena for international geopolitical and military competition has been around for decades in scholarly literature. This presentation will examine recently published and publicly accessible U.S. Government and military literature on Space Force. These works examine various economic, military, and political aspects of this entity and how it may affect U.S. national security policy in years to come.

This is the sixth annual review of Singapore’s performance in notable international moot competitions. This season will of course be known as a highly disrupted one, beginning with the Hong Kong unrest that barred some teams from participating in LAWASIA (for which Singapore has been to the last four championship) and COVID-19 that led to the outright cancellation of various Grand Slam moots including the Jessup, International Criminal Court, and Frankfurt (for which Singapore has regularly featured in the championship). This article uses historical research methods to explore noted disability rights leader Ed Roberts' performances on the speaker circuit between 1983, when he left his position as director of the California Department of Rehabilitation, and his death in 1995. This article examines how he managed his performed identity, his self as presented on stage, in order to be a disability star. Using his own life story as a poignant example, he narrated an autobiography of how a paralyzed man could live a vigorous, successful, indeed a joyful life. His personal stories communicated his lived experiences of battling discrimination and stereotypes. …

This chapter explores what the authors discovered about analog games and game design during the many iterative processes that have led to the Lost & Found series, and how they found certain constraints and affordances (that which an artifact assists, promotes or allows) provided by the boardgame genre. Some findings were counter-intuitive. What choices would allow for the modeling of complex systems, such as legal and economic systems? What choices would allow for gameplay within the time of a class-period? What mechanics could promote discussions of tradeoff decisions? Reflections on lessons learnt during online teaching during COVID-19. Despite the difficulties of the term, I realized that online teaching had certain strengths that traditional face-to-face teaching formats lacked. This started me on the path to adapting online teaching practices to improve our current modes of teaching, such as using online tools to improve interactivity, and reduce bias in interacting with students. I also started reconsidering whether our traditional classroom structures are indeed the best way to teach. While my experiences are based on teaching law, I believe that these points are also applicable to teaching in other disciplines.

Technology has changed dramatically over the last couple of decades. Currently, virtually all business industries are powered by large quantities of data. This desire often manifests itself specifically in clinicians seeking to provide healing, hope, and restoration in the lives of women and men. (Thullesen, 2019). Human trafficking is a prominent human rights and social justice issue that is embedded within our society. Distance learning is now a central component of the law school curriculum. The COVID-19 pandemic forced law schools to engage in emergency remote teaching after in-person instruction became too dangerous. As a result, nearly every law school is now engaging in some form of distance learning, at least temporarily. The modes and levels of vehicle automation have advanced over the years with the goal of making driving safer. Features like self-steering, lane assist, and blind-spot warning are designed to assist drivers in operating their vehicles. However, the emergence of autonomous vehicle technology self-driving capabilities raises new questions about tort liability.

Since 2016, there have been numerous fatalities involving autonomous vehicles. In Albuquerque, University of New Mexico School of Law associate professor Maryam Ahranjani and Hope Pendleton, a board member of the Black Law Student Association at UNM, are saying now is the time to remove officers from schools.

“There’s a lot of unfortunate downstream negative repercussions for children from having police officers in schools,” Ahranjani said.

Pendleton and Ahranjani helped write a letter to APS Superintendent Raquel Reedy and her leadership team that says funds earmarked for the APS Police Department would be better spent addressing this counselor-to-student ratio and investing in other personnel.
