Small Hydroelectric Systems: A Guide To Development In California, California Energy Commission

The 1979 Biennial Report of the California Energy Commission states that the development of preferred energy alternatives, including small hydroelectric, is a Commission priority. That report also states, "The Commission will continue to provide technical assistance for cogeneration and development of small hydroelectric energy." This manual was prepared by the staff of the Commission as part of the Development Division's program to provide this assistance.

Since the enactment of the California Coastal Act of 1976, the California Coastal Commission has been at the forefront in dealing with a multitude of energy developments proposed along the coastline. This program is funded persuant to Chapter 713 of 1979 Statutes (SB 383, Smith) and under the requirements of Chapter 1256 of 1977 Statutes (AB 1434, Gage). This report discusses the program•s implementation and a preliminary assessment covering the period through December 30, 1980.

Pursuant to the requirements of Chapter 990 of 1979 Statutes (AB 23, Vasconcellos), the Commission on Crime Control and Violence Prevention is pleased to present this Preliminary Report, covering Commission activities and findings through December 30, 1981. The Commission is charged with the investigation of the root causes of violence, and the identification of preventative, proactive measures. That is, we seek ways to encourage human development in environments that prevent the first act of violence, or a violent life· pattern, from occurring.
