I am pleased to have been one of the contributors to the forthcoming volume that provides the occasion for the present panel.' David Sloss and his co-editors, William Dodge and Michael Ramsey, deserve congratulations for coming up with a concept for a much-needed research project, for assembling a group of scholars from different disciplines, for organizing an authors' conference that was a model of collaborative interaction, and for exemplary editing of the papers.
