This short article entitled, The Friendship of Pope Paul VI and Jacques Maritain and The Declaration on Religious Freedom, is one of a series on the mid-20th century philosopher Jacques Maritain who inspired, in part, two of the most important international political documents of the twentieth century. This article concentrates on some of the circumstances that made possible the Declaration on Religious Freedom at the Second Vatican Council in Dec. 1965.
