The Writers Guild of America’s 2023 strike forced audiences to reckon with Hollywood’s labor issues and the powerhouse unions that seek to solve them. Television networks responded with “strike-proof” fall schedules that highlighted a gap in the entertainment industry’s union membership: reality television. This Note examines and questions that gap, focusing on the labor of reality story producers and the important role it plays in creating a copyrightable product. Although copyright doctrine offers story producers little to no protection against exploitation, copyright case law implicitly recognizes story producers as, essentially, writers. President Biden has launched an Indo-Pacific Framework for Prosperity (“IPEF”) that purports to facilitate high standards, including high labor standards, in the region. That Framework is silent on traditional trade matters such as market access, leading many trade and labor scholars and policymakers to question its utility.
Contrary to that skepticism, this commissioned report argues that the IPEF holds tremendous promise by realigning the bottom-up governance of labor rights in trade with international labor governance. What if instead of seeing criminal court as an institution driven by the operation of rules, we saw it as a workplace where people labor to criminalize those with the misfortune to be prosecuted? I offer three different ways to think about labor in criminal court: (1) labor as a source of sociological value, (2) labor as an input that generates certain measurable outcomes, and (3) labor as a vehicle to advance abolitionist reforms. A growing number of trade agreements have taken an important step toward ensuring consistency by referring to - and hence incorporating the legal content of - ILO instruments. On its face, this uniform reference suggests an increasing alignment between the ILO's international labor standards system and the labor provisions included in the various trade agreements. The application of these references in the decentralized trade context needs to be considered carefully, however, as there is a risk of inconsistent practices between agreements.

Since the 1980s, executive compensation of directors and officers in U.S. Corporations have increased sharply. This paper reflects upon the public criticism of corporations that paid exorbitant amounts as salary and other benefits to their directors and officers. This paper focuses on the laws of corporations in Delaware as they relate to directors and officers’ compensation. The author examines different concepts such as the doctrine of waste that creates a duty that a corporation cannot give away or waste its assets.
