COVID-19 Pandemic Archive

Two flow charts were revised for Fall 2021 and distributed to faculty, staff and students in August 2021 under advisement from Dean Peter B. Rutledge in consultation with members of UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Population Health and the AU/UGA Medical Partnership. UGA Law Librarian Rachel Evans assisted with the graphic design aspects of this resource.

A generic template of this flow chart was also created so that other departments, schools and colleges across the University of Georgia could adapt and use this resource for their communities. That template is attached below as an additional file.

This screenshot was the final version of the Law Library's COVID-19 Continuing Services webpage. First published on Friday March 13, 2020 as we prepared for our first week of building closure at the onset of the pandemic, it was the primary location of our library's facility hours, pandemic services, and closure information through Spring 2021. This version shows the way the webpage looked on the date it was unpublished May 17, 2021.

In this five minute video UGA Law Library shared information about reopening for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters, including changes to policies, virtual services, and access to the facility and other resources. This video was used as a part of communications with School of Law faculty, staff and students and embedded on the library's webpage for continuing services throughout the 2020-21 academic year.

In this updated virtual tour for Fall 2020's incoming students at UGA School of Law the library took students on a tour of the building, shared resource and service information, and provided some details about navigating the spaces and accessing the collection during the pandemic. This video was included in the School of Law incoming student virtual orientation experience as part of their eLC course, managed by the school's Office of Student Affairs.

This fall the Alexander Campbell King Law Library at the University of Georgia turned library orientation for incoming students into a Fest, and opened the event up to the entire law school community. The idea for a fest was a collaborative one, with examples from other library orientation programs as well as UGA’s staff resource fair, our experiences at conferences like CALICon, and even a AALL poster session contributing to the final event design and deployment. I devote most of this essay to exploring how, exactly, the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) should go about providing guidelines to implement the statutory requirement that issuers have a reasonable belief that a purchaser is accredited. The SEC has proposed rules, but these rules merely restate what Congress has already required, thus sidestepping Congress’s direction that the agency itself articulate some verification methods. Taking the SEC’s decidedly amorphous proposal to task, I recommend that the SEC offer two nonexclusive safe harbors for issuers to guide them in determining whether a natural person is an accredited investor. This article will discuss the current state of off-label medicine, relevant legislation in the area, and a proposal designed to capture the benefits of off-label medicine while limiting its dangers when practiced perniciously. Part II will discuss the regulations in place governing off-label promotion and will detail the practice of ghostwriting and its associated concerns. Part III will analyze the costs and benefits of off-label marketing and practice of medicine, and will utilize a case study to demonstrate the predicament of drug manufacturers.
