Dealing with basic concepts of legal anthropology in Chapter 3, the presently much discussed (and practically important, see Chapter 13 V.1.), a focus is on the issue of ethnicity and cultural identity. Furthermore, Chapter 3 offers a freshly organized presentation of what may be called the issue of civilizational stages, in preparation of Chapter 9 where correlations between organizational, economical, religious and thought-modal traits are discussed.
