Personal Reflections On The Honorable Robert R. Merhige, Jr.: A Judge, Mentor, And Friend, Mary Kelly Tate
Law Faculty Publications
Twenty-six years – half my lifetime – have passed since I joined Judge Merhige's court family as his law clerk. I attempt here to sketch my personal impressions, distilling what to me was most remarkable about Robert R. Merhige, Jr. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this dynamic man turned legendary judge – a man I revered from the moment I met him – is more vivid to me now than he was to my younger self.

John McNeill, better known as Jack, died on January 18, 2016, after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. Jack began working at Pace Law School (now known as Elisabeth Haub School of Law) in September 2000, where he initially served as head of reference services. Two years later, he was promoted to associate director, the position from which he retired in December 2015. He is survived by his sister and brother, two nephews, a niece, and five great-nieces and -nephews.

Harry Pratter (1976-1977 Acting)
At this year's annual Alumni Weekend, colleagues, family, friends, and former students of the inimitable Professor Harry Pratter, who died in March 2002, gathered to share their recollections of his life and career.
Pratter, who was born in the Ukraine and emigrated to the United States as a child, began teaching at the Law School in 1950, after earning his JD from the University of Chicago. He taught many different subjects, including Commercial Law, Negotiable Instruments, Conflicts of Law, Contracts, Torts, and Family Law. But more fundamentally, "he taught life," according to Professor Fred Aman, longtime dean of the school. …

Memorial: Beverley J. Pooley (1934-2001), Margaret A. Leary
Articles
Beverley J. Pooley died at the age of sixty-seven on August 23, 2001, of kidney failure due to complications from pancreatic cancer. His death came shockingly fast, for he had only learned how seriously ill he was the week before. The bare facts about Bev's life cannot begin to describe what he was to the local community, the University of Michigan, and the law school world. Born in England in 1934, he earned B.A. and LL.B. degrees from Cambridge University; and LL.M., S.J.D., and M.A. in Library Science degrees from the University of Michigan. During that time he served in …

Memorial: Margaret Althea Goldblatt (1948-2000), Margaret A. Leary
Articles
Margaret Goldblatt, who died on June 15, 2000, in Cape Town, South Africa, after a year-long battle with cancer, was a rare combination of librarian and entrepreneur. She had both a sense of humor and a sense of professionalism that endeared her to those who knew her. Many of her colleagues knew her only through telephone and e-mail communications, for she worked the last several years from the office of Ward and Associates, located in the home she shared with her husband Peter Ward and her two children, Clea Goldblatt, age 21, and Zachary Ward, age 11.
