The Latimer House Guidelines were written at the start of the new millennium some 11 years ago. After the Guidelines, other supporting documents have been churned out by the Commonwealth. This Article uses the dialectical ideas of German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1833) in application to the progression of United States voting laws since the founding. This analysis can be used to interpret past progression of voting rights in the US as well as a provoking way to predict the future trends in US voting rights. Persuasive Strategies Used In Obama’S Political Speech: A Cda Approach Based On Fairclough’S Framework, Ali Taghinezhad

This paper examines the persuasive strategies of President Obama's public speech and additionally the incognito belief system of the same, cherished in his inaugural location. Our examination is grounded in Norman Fairclough’s presumptions in critical discourse analysis (CDA), guaranteeing that "belief systems dwell in messages" that "it is impractical to 'peruse off' belief systems from writings" and that "messages are interested in assorted understandings" (Fairclough, 1995). The chosen corpus' ideological and enticing segments are evaluated, subsequently uncovering Obama's influential methods. The results are presented at the end of the study.

Hydraulic fracturing, known colloquially as “fracking,” makes use of chemically-formulated fluid that is forced down a gas well at great pressure to fracture underground rock formations and release embedded natural gas. Many journalists, environmentalists, and public health advocates are concerned about what may happen if the fracking fluid escapes the well and contaminates nearby drinking water supplies. This article attempts a comprehensive analysis and comparison of all relevant fracking fluid disclosure regulations currently extant in the United States, and considers whether the information gained is truly useful for citizens, journalists, and regulators. This paper examines The Republic of the Marshall Islands v. The United States of America et al., the grounds for its dismissal, and recommendations for how it should be appealed and ultimately judged. The Marshall Islands sued alleging noncompliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), seeking declaratory and injunctive relief. At issue are concepts of legality and ethics behind the “Political Question Doctrine” defense that the United States provides, in addition to whether or not the Marshall Islands has standing. Lessons In Fiscal Activism, Mirit Eyal-Cohen
Mirit Eyal-Cohen
This article highlights an anomaly. It shows that two tax rules aimed to achieve a similar goal were introduced at the same time. Both meant to be temporary and bring economic stimuli but received a dramatically different treatment. The economically inferior rule survived while its superior counterpart did not. The article reviews the reasons for this paradox. It shows that the causes are both political and an agency problem. The article not only enriches an important and ongoing debate that has received much attention in recent years, but also provides important lessons to policymakers.
