Using The Client-File Method To Teach Transactional Law, Bradley T. Borden

This Article presents a teaching method (the client-file method) for transactional law courses that combines the business school case-study method with the law school case method. The client-file method of teaching requires students to become familiar with real-word legal issues and the types of documents and information that accompany matters that transactional clients bring to attorneys (i.e., the contents of a client file). The method also requires students to learn and apply substantive law to solve problems that arise in a transactional law practice. Government regulations and uncertainty about their enforcement can be a significant barrier to innovation. In business, it is undesirable to consume time and other resources developing a product that cannot be sold or which requires navigating significant bureaucracy for each sale. In academ-ia, where limited funding is available prior to the submission of a grant pro-posal and receipt of an award, proposal-stage compliance costs can derail a project long before it begins. This article proposes a dramatic shift in law schools’ approach to teaching doctrinal courses. Language policy implementation is a complex, multilayered process. Understanding this process can be achieved by identifying the agents, layers, and processes of language planning and policy activities, analyzing the layers independently, and examining the relations among the layers. Considering these dimensions, this article explicates how U.S. special education policy functions as de facto language policy for deaf students. Well designed assessment can be a vehicle for encouraging students to learn and engage more broadly than with the minimums required to complete the assessment activity. In the current regulatory climate, there is increasing expectation that law schools will be able to demonstrate students’ acquisition of learning outcomes regarding collaboration skills. We argue that this is best achieved through a stepped and structured whole-of-curriculum approach to small group learning. ‘Group work’ provides deep learning and opportunities to develop professional skills, but these benefits are not always realised for law students. Contesting Religious Authoriality: The Immanuel “Beis-Yaakov” School Segregation Case, Shulamit Almog, Lotem Perry-Hazan

This paper will focus on two textual articulations that emerged in the Immanuel “Beis-Yaakov” school segregation case. The first is a declaration of the Admor from Slonim that was published when the Ultra-Orthodox fathers who refused to send their daughters to an integrated school were imprisoned. The second is a letter to the Supreme Court that was written by an Ashkenazi mother whose daughter attended the "Beis Yaakov" school. A semiotic reading of the articulations reveals several opposing characteristics. The Admor's audience is determined by his choice of medium and rhetoric, which guarantee hegemonic reading, corresponding with the textual code …

In this research we explore the ways in which the right to adaptable education is realized by high-school literature curricula designed for the Jewish and Arabic sectors of the Israeli National-Education Stream. Literature studies have a special role in the realization of the right to adaptable education in light of their contribution to the formation of a rich perception of the self. The methodology used is two-layered: first, elements of adaptability in each of the texts are traced, and than a critical examination of aspects of adaptability in the curricula is conducted. Several banks and consulting firms provide market sizing estimates for the number of high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals.
