ABSTRACT The concerns of this study work was to examine the legal basis for electronic signatures within the Tanzania legal framework. The main problem which furnishes for this study be conducted were the legal recognition of electronic records, the authentications and verifications of electronic signatures in meeting the legal requirements that any transactions, like in contract formation and in banking transactions, such that in making cheque and other bills of exchange, the records shall be in writing and signed by parties.
