Imagine a mighty drug lord confined in the toughest maximum-security prison. One night he escapes through a hole in the shower. This hole leads to a 1500-metre tunnel that ends in a construction site in a nearby neighbourhood. The tunnel has been equipped by expert mining engineers with lighting and ventilation. Its construction required 3250 tonnes of earth to be removed in sight of the guards in the prison’s towers. It seems like the plot of a blockbuster thriller. 'El contestador australiano y otros cuentos' [The Australian answering machine and other stories] is the title of a collection of short stories written in Spanish by Uruguayan-born Ruben Fernández. It was published in 2008 in Montevideo by the well-regarded publishing house Del Sur Ediciones. In 2009 Fernández was interviewed by the Uruguayan newspaper 'El País' and spoke about how his stories relate to his experience of thirty years as a migrant living in Australia. Many of the stories in this collection first appeared in Australia in the 1980s and early 1990s, a number of them as prize-winning entries in literary …

In workplace studies, mobbing is a recognised phenomenon worldwide (Hoel, Cooper and Faragher, 2001; McKay et al., 2008; Oceguera, Aldrete and Ruíz, 2009; Rayner and Keashly, 2005; Seydl, 2005; and many others). It can be defined as a group systematically attacking a person's reputation for a long period of time, using negative communication as a weapon. The intention is to destroy the target's value as a reliable individual, initially causing them to lose power and prestige, with the long-term goal of achieving their dismissal, resignation or general ostracism. This essay undertakes a radical criticism of legalist ideologies through a pluralist revision of the sources of law. Literary texts –specifically, the Harry Potter series of novels– are catalogued as sources of law. For this purpose, the law inscribed in fictional narrative worlds is considered as a matter that concerns the law in the real-world and the lives of audiences who read such fictional worlds. Law is literature and literature is law. On this basis, the article analyzes from a republican perspective the fictionalization of the rule of law in the Potter novels.

This article applies some of Gilles Deleuze’s concepts, particularly the ideas supporting his transcendental empiricism onto a particular field of action: Arab-Jewish radical activism in Israel- Palestine. Specifically, the article interrogates three scenes: housing activism, bilingual education and professional football. Deleuze’s empiricism, the findings help to argue, is not only an approach to understanding but necessarily also an activist perspective on social life.

La voz utopía puede entenderse en dos sentidos. Habitualmente y en un sentido amplio, se ha convenido en remontar sus raíces a las voces griegas ού (no) y τόπος (lugar), esto es, el lugar que no existe. Sin embargo, también puede referirse a las raíces ευ (bueno) y τόπος (lugar): el buen lugar1 . En la etimología de la voz utopía se encuentra presente una ambigüedad que, al ser suprimida, confunde sus contenidos conceptuales: el “no lugar” (porque no es ahora, pero puede ser mañana) y el “buen lugar” (porque, ahora o mañana, debe ser). RESUMEN: El autor expone el impacto que ha tenido el concepto de anatocismo en el derecho mexicano, al dar a conocer, primero, las distintas posturas adoptadas en torno del anatocismo, y al presentar, después, la exposición de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación.
