Racial and ethnic diversity within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields remains low, and many scientists and researchers are seeking solutions to help address racism in their workplaces. To help, assistant professor and environmental scientist in the Department of Environmental Science and Studies for DePaul’s College of Science and Health, Dr. Bala Chaudhary, collaborated with another researcher of color to create the “Ten Simple Rules for Building an Antiracist Lab.”

Sister Helen Prejean And The Death Penalty: Decades Of Fighting Capital Punishment, University Marketing And Communications, Helen Prejean

Sister Helen Prejean has dedicated her life to opposing the death penalty after she witnessed an execution in her home state of Louisiana. Her efforts have sparked a national dialogue on capital punishment and she has helped shape the Catholic Church’s position on the topic. In 2011, she donated her personal archives to the university to help the DePaul community continue to learn from her work. On this episode of DePaul Download, Sister Helen talks about life’s work and what keeps her going.

School of Continuing and Professional Studies Faculty Publications
This research considers how French female lawyers participated in legal reform during the period from 1900 to 1940. Frenchwomen were admitted to the legal profession in 1900 by an act of parliament and this reform brought political implications in its wake. My research on the first cadres of female lawyers illustrates that that they were unusually political active. As unequal members of the profession and unequal citizens in the society many of these new professionals engaged in a vigorous defense of equality and justice.

Emancipation Through Secularization: French Feminist Views Of Muslim Women’S Condition In Interwar Algeria, Sara L. Kimble

Cet article examine la condition des musulmanes algériennes telle que vue par des féministes françaises entre les deux guerres mondiales. Une série de colloques nationaux et internationaux dans la région méditerranéenne analysa les limitations imposées sur les filles et les femmes musulmanes par la tradition patriarcale et s'adressa au gouvernement pour demander des réformes. Cet article démontre que ces féministes françaises approuvaient la « mission civilisatrice » de la France et conseillaient des mesures visant la modernisation, « le progrès » et la laïcité en Algérie. The Biblical Hermeneutics Of Magister Gratian. An Investigation Of Scripture And Canon Law In The Twelfth Century, John E. Rybolt
John E Rybolt
The father of canon law, Gratian, compiled and explained previous ecclesiastical jurisprudence using, among other sources, the Bible. This dissertation presents the principles of Gratian's biblical interpretation. It is based on an analysis and explanation of representative passages in the Decretum Gratiani, 628 citations in all.
