Saudi Arabians and Americans face challenges when they seek to enforce judgments in each other’s country courts because of the absence of international conventions on recognition and enforcement of foreign country money judgments. The lack of such conventions impacts the aggrieved party interest for businesspeople and individuals from both countries, and no research has been found that discusses an agreement between the two counties on foreign judgments. This study examines the legal feasibility of ratification of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for International Sale of Goods (CISG) by Saudi Arabia as well other Islamic countries that apply Islamic law (Sharia). To understand the feasibility, this study is divided in three parts. Part One serves as a brief introduction to the CISG and Islamic Law (which is the governing contract law in Saudi Arabia). Insurance industry generally revolves around financial risks, and the business of insurance companies is reliant on the resolution of claims that arise from these risks associated with insurance policies. In fact, insurance companies routinely adjust claims and provide indemnities to the insureds or beneficiaries. In some cases, however, the resolution of claims may falter, resulting in disputes that involve conflicting views between the insurer and insured on the eligibility of indemnity. In 2015, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) conducted a survey to assess corruption in Saudi Arabia. From this survey, two main findings deserve to be highlighted. First, the survey reveals that the practice of wasta was the most prevalent corrupt practice in Saudi society, constituting about 62 percent of such practices. This finding shows that it is essential to examine such a practice not only as a legal issue, but also as a social issue. Family violence is a serious issue that affects women in Saudi Arabia. In response to cultural acceptance of violence between spouses in Saudi Arabia, the government issued its first law criminalizing domestic violence in 2013. The Protection from Abuse Act was proposed to improve protection for women and to punish the abusers, but several articles in the Act may reduce its effectiveness. Issuing laws prohibiting domestic violence cannot by itself protect women. Women should be protected under family law by preserving their rights to marry, divorce, obtain custody of children, and receive alimony. This dissertation will study the issue of …
