Detection Of Myofascial Trigger Points With Ultrasound Imaging And Machine Learning, Benjamin Formby Dec 2023

Detection Of Myofascial Trigger Points With Ultrasound Imaging And Machine Learning, Benjamin Formby

All Theses

Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) is a common chronic muscle pain disorder that affects a large portion of the global population, seen in 85-93% of patients in specialty pain clinics [10]. MPS is characterized by hard, palpable nodules caused by a stiffened taut band of muscle fibers. These nodules are referred to as Myofascial Trigger Points (MTrPs) and can be classified by two states: active MTrPs (A-MTrPs) and latent MtrPs (L-MTrPs). Treatment for MPS involves massage therapy, acupuncture, and injections or painkillers. Given the subjectivity of patient pain quantification, MPS can often lead to mistreatment or drug misuse. A deterministic way …

Thermal-Kinect Fusion Scanning System For Bodyshape Inpainting And Estimation Under Clothing, Sirazum Munira Tisha Nov 2019

Thermal-Kinect Fusion Scanning System For Bodyshape Inpainting And Estimation Under Clothing, Sirazum Munira Tisha

LSU Master's Theses

In today's interactive world 3D body scanning is necessary in the field of making virtual avatar, apparel industry, physical health assessment and so on. 3D scanners that are used in this process are very costly and also requires subject to be nearly naked or wear a special tight fitting cloths. A cost effective 3D body scanning system which can estimate body parameters under clothing will be the best solution in this regard. In our experiment we build such a body scanning system by fusing Kinect depth sensor and a Thermal camera. Kinect can sense the depth of the subject and …

Image Processing And Understanding Based On Graph Similarity Testing: Algorithm Design And Software Development, Jieqi Kang Mar 2017

Image Processing And Understanding Based On Graph Similarity Testing: Algorithm Design And Software Development, Jieqi Kang

Doctoral Dissertations

Image processing and understanding is a key task in the human visual system. Among all related topics, content based image retrieval and classification is the most typical and important problem. Successful image retrieval/classification models require an effective fundamental step of image representation and feature extraction. While traditional methods are not capable of capturing all structural information on the image, using graph to represent the image is not only biologically plausible but also has certain advantages. Graphs have been widely used in image related applications. Traditional graph-based image analysis models include pixel-based graph-cut techniques for image segmentation, low-level and high-level image …

Automated Visual Monitoring Of Machining Equipment, Timothy Wayne Ragland Dec 2011

Automated Visual Monitoring Of Machining Equipment, Timothy Wayne Ragland

Masters Theses

Metalworking equipment is designed to modify a sheet, rod, or block of metal material in order to shape it for a specific application. This equipment can operate on the metal by bending it, drilling through it, or by cutting it. For small-scale operations, many tools require a significant amount of manual input. Unless the operator has extensive training and experience, the manual input may not be precise enough for fine details that may be needed in some applications. For example, with a bending brake, obtaining an accurate angle for the bend may be quite difficult. For a particular application, an …

Automatic Human Face Detection In Color Images, Son Lam Phung Jan 2003

Automatic Human Face Detection In Color Images, Son Lam Phung

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

Automatic human face detection in digital image has been an active area of research over the past decade. Among its numerous applications, face detection plays a key role in face recognition system for biometric personal identification, face tracking for intelligent human computer interface (HCI), and face segmentation for object-based video coding. Despite significant progress in the field in recent years, detecting human faces in unconstrained and complex images remains a challenging problem in computer vision. An automatic system that possesses a similar capability as the human vision system in detecting faces is still a far-reaching goal. This thesis focuses on …
