Multi-User Detection For Multi-Rate Ds/Cdma Systems, Jinwen Ma
Multi-User Detection For Multi-Rate Ds/Cdma Systems, Jinwen Ma
Dissertations
Wireless cellular communication is witnessing a rapid growth in market, technology and range of services. Current and future demands for wireless communication services motivate the need for handling multi-media traffic types. In a multimedia communication system, users with different and even time-varying rates and quality of services (QoS) requirements, such as voice, image and data, must be accommodated. The use of Spread Spectrum modulation with Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology is an attractive approach for economical spectrally efficient and high quality cellular and personal communication services. This dissertation explores the technologies of applying different interference cancellation techniques to multi-rate …
Asynchronous Multiuser Decorrelating Detector For Awgn Channel, Ashwini A. Borkar
Asynchronous Multiuser Decorrelating Detector For Awgn Channel, Ashwini A. Borkar
Theses
Decorrelating detector is one of the sub-optimum detectors for CDMA applications that generally has better performance than the conventional detector and is near-far resistant. Synchronous decorrelating detector employing DPSK modulation is considered and its simulation results are presented.
Attention is focussed on one-shot decorrelating detector for a two user case for asynchronous transmission, where each symbol interval is considered seperately. Initially the performance of the detector with exact estimation of the relative delay is analyzed and then the effect of inaccurate estimation on the probability of error is discussed.

On Adaptive Code Division Multiple Access Detectors, Wenping Chen
Dissertations
Several variations of adaptive CDMA synchronous receiver schemes which can automatically adjust to the system parameters, are studied in this dissertation. Unlike their non-adaptive counterparts, these adaptive detectors require no knowledge of the received signals' energies and have similar or better performance.
Minimum energy and decorrelating criterion are used to update the weights. Since weights are updated according to the changes of the detector's outputs, hence no training sequence is required. The convergences of some of the aforementioned adaptive detectors are also disscussed.
The detectors proposed in this dissertation are near-far resistant, thus rendering the high-precision power control unnecessary. Among them, …
Soft Decision Adaptive Multiuser Cdma Detector For Asynchronous Awgn Channels, Frank Viehofer
Soft Decision Adaptive Multiuser Cdma Detector For Asynchronous Awgn Channels, Frank Viehofer
Theses
A multiuser detector in an asynchronous, additive white Gaussian noise, codedivision multipleaccess (CDMA) channel is proposed and analyzed. It employs a combination of a decorrelator and a nonlinear multiuser interference canceler that utilizes soft tentative decisions. The weights of the canceler are adaptively adjusted, in a manner that renders the knowledge of received signal energies and the use of training sequences unnecessary. The steady state error performance of the detector is obtained and found to be superior to the performance of the same detector that utilizes hard tentative decisions.
Adaptive Receivers For Direct-Spread And Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access Systems, Xiangqun Liu
Adaptive Receivers For Direct-Spread And Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access Systems, Xiangqun Liu
Theses
In this thesis, the detection of Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) signals in an AWGN channel and Multi-Carrier (MC) CDMA signals in a time-dispersion channel is discussed.
The DS-CDMA receiver employs an adaptive multiuser interference canceler that utilizes deadzone limiters in the tentative decision stage. With weights adjusted adaptively, the prior knowledge of signal powers is unnecessary. The steady state error performance of this receiver is obtained and found to be superior to the performance of the same receiver using hard limiters for tentative decisions. The channel is considered non-fading in. this receiver.

Transient Behavior Of An Adaptive Synchronous Cdma Receiver, Bin Zhu
Transient Behavior Of An Adaptive Synchronous Cdma Receiver, Bin Zhu
Theses
A steepest descent algorithm is used to update the adaptive weights of a two-stage synchronous Code-Division Multiple-Access (CDMA) receiver that was proposed recently. An issue of the adaptive CDMA system - the convergence and stability property of the receiver is investigated in this thesis.
This adaptive synchronous CDMA receiver uses a decorrelator at the first stage and adopts a neural network which acts as an interference canceler at the second stage. It can achieve near-optimum performance. Furthermore, its computational complexity is just a square function of the number of users. The only requirement is the knowledge of the users' signature …
Adaptive Two-Stage Detection Scheme In Synchronous Two-User Cdma Systems, Yong Jiang
Adaptive Two-Stage Detection Scheme In Synchronous Two-User Cdma Systems, Yong Jiang
Theses
A conventional single user detector is not optimum in the multiuser environment because the multiuser interference can not be modeled as an additive Gaussian process. Such a receiver is very vulnerable to the near far situation. The receiver that is optimum for multiuser environment has high complexity and requires a knowledge of the received signal energies. Various versions of the receiver that handle the near far situation have been proposed in the literature. In this work, an adaptive two stage scheme for a synchronous two user environment with unknown received energies is proposed. It consists of a, tandem of the …
