The Effect Of The Ethnic Identification Of Teachers With Principals On The Teachers' Perceptions Of The Principals' Leadership Behavior, Elena P. Zayas-Bazan

The problem of this study was to determine whether the ethnic identification of teachers with their school principals affected the teachers' perception of the principals' leadership behavior. This study followed the ex-post-facto design of a co-relational study. Twelve dimensions of the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire, Form 12 (LBDQ-XII) were selected to assess the perception of teachers belonging to three different ethnic groups of the leadership behavior of principals belonging to the three ethnic groups. The statistical analysis of the data for hypotheses 1 through 7 was intended to determine significant differences in the ratings by white, black, and Spanish language …

The problem in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) is the shortage of trained personnel in technical and middle management among its nationals as demonstrated by the importing of 98% of its labor force from abroad.

A traditional method of correcting errant behavior of young children has been the use of corporal punishment in the home and 'in loco parentis' in our public schools. Corporal punishment as a disciplinary method, stands on historical precedent and continued social practice, having found its way to America as part of Old World tradition and Puritan theology.

In an attempt to assess current opinion regarding corporal punishment in the schools, a twenty-two-item questionnaire, based on contemporary child development theory, was developed. The problem of this study was to identify existing factors affecting professional personnel of Johnson City and Washington County, Tennessee, public school systems and to project the effect merger would have on these factors. Subproblems consisted of identification of the criteria for maximum professional personnel performance, present approaches for meeting the needs of professional personnel in event of merger, and the factors involved in successful and unsuccessful merger attempts to determine what effects merger had on professional personnel. The purpose of this paper was to describe a six-week internship completed with the Kalamazoo Public Schools. The majority of the intern's time was spent observing the functions of the office of Employee Services and performing tasks related to that office.

Chapter I contained some background information describing Kalamazoo Public Schools. It also contained the intern's prospectus and rationale.

Chapter II described the director's role as head of Employee Services. The main focus of the material found in this chapter concerned layoffs, teacher attendance, morale, and SRI interviews.
