The need to create programs that help teachers deal with the challenges of developing a larger work force of scientists that includes under-represented minority status groups has been a concern of educators for more than three decades. The main purpose of this study was to identify a pool of discriminating variables to be used as predictors of success on the SPEAK and TEACH tests, which are tests given to prospective international teaching assistants at Iowa State University. Data were collected from four-hundred randomly selected subjects. Afrikan students at Iowa State University are experiencing difficulty in a variety of areas. First, a mailed survey was used to investigate the scope and nature of current strategies used by U.S.-based Fortune 100 firms to facilitate the reentry of international executives. Its second purpose was the development of management strategies intended to optimize utilization of international executives during reentry and beyond;Survey results indicated MNCs are becoming more aware of the importance of international assignments. The purpose of this study was to compare the perceived concerns of Asian, African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and international students enrolled during the Fall 1989 semester at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa;The subjects for this study consisted of 253 students selected from a stratified random sample of 500 students. An Education, Employment And Health Needs Assessment Of Southeast Asian Refugee Women Living In Central Iowa , Gita Dhawan

One hundred and fifty Southeast Asian refugee living in Des Moines metropolitan area were interviewed regarding their felt needs in the areas of education, employment and health. The five ethnic backgrounds represented in the study were Vietnamese, Laotians, Hmong, Tai Dam and the Cambodians. English language instruction emerged as the most desired need as expressed by these women. Education and employment emerged as the second most felt needs of the women. Lack of transportation ranked fourth, and, (better) medical services ranked as fifth most significant need as expressed by these women.
