Challenges For Successful Transfer From Community To Bachelor’S Colleges: Views Of Staff And Faculty With Transfer Responsibilities, A. W. Logue, Kerstin Gentsch, Yoshiko Oka, David Wutchiett, Stephanie Abbeyquaye

Publications and Research

Staff and faculty have influential roles in the success of students transferring from associate’s- to bachelor’s-degree programs (vertical transfer students). Our survey compared the reported views on transfer of 607 staff and faculty with transfer responsibilities in associate’s or bachelor’s programs at 19 City University of New York colleges. The findings included: (1) Staff reported feeling more confident in their responsibilities than did faculty. (2) Participants working with associate’s-degree students were more likely to report their colleges had sufficient transfer-service resources. (3) Associate’s-degree faculty were the least likely participant group to respond that the biggest barrier to the transfer process …

Improving Enrollment In The Construction Management Graduate Program Through Students’ Perspectives, Mouloud Messaoudi

Master of Technology Management Plan II Graduate Projects

Low enrollment and the decrease in graduation and retention rates are challenges facing the growth of the Master’s in Technology Management – Construction Management (MTM-CM) program at BGSU. In addition, the competition between the universities to enroll and retain more in-state, out-of-state, and international students is aggressive. There is a need for a revaluation for the MTM-CM program in order to attract more students in the future. This study is a necessary step to know what the MTM-CM students think about the product delivered to them at BGSU. There was no prior study investigating the satisfaction level of the construction …

Staff Engagement And Diversity Climate Survey Report, Fall 2012, Western Washington University. Equal Opportunity Office

Office of Institutional Effectiveness

BACKGROUND In order to continue to improve Western’s campus climate and employee engagement and to enhance the University’s commitment to diversity, President Shepard facilitated the distribution of a Staff Engagement and Diversity Climate Survey (Staff Survey) on October 31, 2012. Western had conducted similar studies for faculty and students, and it was critical that the views and opinions of classified and professional staff also be collected in order to identify areas in need of improvement, work on those areas, and ascertain progress. The Human Resources Office developed a 49 item survey instrument addressing issues of staff engagement. The Equal Opportunity …

Perceptions Of Subtle Gender Discrimination, Hostility, And Sexual Harassment Among Senior Women Faculty At Western Washington University, Linda D. (Linda Darlene) Clark, Pamela Jull, Gary (Gary Russell) Mckinney

Office of Institutional Effectiveness

In 1999, the Faculty Senate approved Western's participation in a national survey of faculty conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI). Western's preliminary analysis of the data revealed that Westerns full-time female faculty reported experiencing sexual harassment at a higher percentage than did full-time female faculty at peer institutions--with each cohort made up approximately 62% tenured faculty and 38% non-tenured faculty. It was also noted that Western's female faculty were more likely to report feeling subtle discrimination than female faculty at peer institutions and less likely to agree that women faculty are treated fairly. Limited by the survey data …

Wwu Library Survey Series, Fall 1996-97 Staff And Administration, Carl Simpson, Linda D. (Linda Darlene) Clark

Office of Institutional Effectiveness

INTRODUCTION At the request of the new University Librarian, Western's Office of Survey Research and Office of Institutional Assessment and Testing worked with the Library's faculty and staff to conduct a series of surveys focusing on library resources and services. These surveys were intended to provide a base of information to help guide an in-depth assessment and planning effort aimed at improving Western's library. During Fall quarter, surveys were conducted of faculty, administration/staff, returning undergraduates with more than 120 credits, returning graduate students, newly entering undergraduate and graduate students, the library faculty and staff, and community library users. This issue …

Faculty Judgments Concerning Expanding Western Washington University's Summer Session, Linda D. (Linda Darlene) Clark, Joseph E. Trimble, Gary (Gary Russell) Mckinney, Carl Simpson May 1996

Faculty Judgments Concerning Expanding Western Washington University's Summer Session, Linda D. (Linda Darlene) Clark, Joseph E. Trimble, Gary (Gary Russell) Mckinney, Carl Simpson

Office of Institutional Effectiveness

During the Winter quarter, 1996, nearly three-quarters of the faculty (70.4%) responded to a questionnaire concerning the advisability of expanding the WWU Summer Session to constitute "year-round" operation. Generally, the faculty supports the idea, although only if the program is high-quality and fully supported, if the program operates with few temporary Summer-only faculty, and if pay for Summer Session increases. Most faculty, 71.7%, say Western "definitely" or "probably" should pursue an enlarged Summer Session, while only 16.4% oppose such a move. Support for expanding Summer Session is, however, limited by two concerns. First, only about 45% of academic year faculty …

Wwu Faculty Survey Concerning Semester Versus Quarter Schedules, Linda D. (Linda Darlene) Clark, Gary (Gary Russell) Mckinney, Carl Simpson

Office of Institutional Effectiveness

Should Western change to some form of semester system? At the request of the Faculty Senate, this question, among many others, was asked of Western faculty in the Faculty Survey Concerning Semester versus Quarter Schedules, administered by the Office of Survey Research and analyzed in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Assessment and Testing. This Focus publication reports findings from that survey, conducted during the fall quarter of 1995.

A Survey Of Material Portraying The Importance Of The Role Of The Principal To Faculty Morale, Robert Andrew Van Woert Jul 1961

A Survey Of Material Portraying The Importance Of The Role Of The Principal To Faculty Morale, Robert Andrew Van Woert

Graduate Student Research Papers

The purpose of the study was to indicate the importance of the role of the principal in relation to morale. In presenting the material surveyed, the primary area will be the human relationship between the principal and the staff. Since most authorities view this point as the most important single aspect of morale, no outside forces will be dealt with. The study is limited primarily to the role of the secondary principal.
