The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study is to document the lived experiences of African American (AA) students attending predominantly White institutions (PWI’s). The importance of capturing these experiences is to better understand how PWIs are properly equipped to serve the needs of their AA students. This study describe how AA students are experiencing spiritual and identity development while they are enrolled at a PWI. The two guiding theories of this study are Fowler’s Faith Development Theory and Erikson’s Identity Development Theory. In the last two decades, some authors in the philosophy for children movement have theorized that the community of philosophical inquiry can be a form of spiritual practice, of the care of the self, or a wisdom practice (De Marzio, 2009; Gregory, 2009, 2013, 2014;Gregory & Laverty, 2009). This article is a response to a paper arguing for a shift from “oneness” to “wholeness” as a democratic principle when reconceptualizing teacher education in a time of large-scale social change. While the paper provides compelling arguments for wholeness as a tool to address social injustice, the discussion is framed primarily through a humanist lens. This response is an invitation to expand the definition of wholeness to include spirituality as core to what it means to be human and whole. First, this research measured the spirituality, self-awareness, and leadership effectiveness of 70 lay Catholic high school leaders in Nigeria to gain insights into these leaders' self-awareness, spirituality, and effectiveness. Second, using multiple regression analysis, it also tried to determine if an association exists between lay-Catholic high school leaders’ self-rated spirituality, self-rated self-awareness, supervisor-rated self-awareness, and supervisor-rated effectiveness of the same Catholic high school leaders. Third, it also tried to determine if self-rated self-awareness, self-rated spirituality, and supervisors’ rated self-awareness would together predict leadership effectiveness among the same lay Catholic high school leaders. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a widespread public health concern with consequences that negatively impact many areas of survivors’ functioning (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2017, 2019; Ellsberg et al., 2008; Gorde et al., 2004; Kelly, 2010a). The negative impacts of IPV are more severe for Latinas than their White counterparts (e.g., Bonomi et al., 2009; Kelly, 2010b; Stockman et al., 2015), causing IPV to be considered a health disparity within the Latina community (Caetano et al., 2005). In Christianity, there are two major perspectives of how one attains eternal life: by faith in Jesus Christ alone, or by necessary additional works/ordinances, such as baptism, or obedience to commandments. Though beliefs about salvation may reasonably be thought to have an influence on mental health and behavior, research on the subject has been slow to accumulate. This project examined the association between beliefs about salvation and mental health, as well as whether this association is mediated by other variables, including Religious Involvement, Scrupulosity, and Perfectionism. Many factors can discourage survivors of sexual assault from reporting their assaults. Even those survivors who disclose, their reporting experiences may not leave them feeling empowered or that they have received adequate support to begin the healing process after disclosure. Using a mixed methods approach, we examined the relationship between religious and spiritual coping strategies, the experience of social disclosure, and symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM). The Catholic school sector is under significant stress with declining enrollments and schools closing in virtually every diocese in the United States. This paper examines two value propositions for Catholic education. One is its role in providing foundational support for the development of personal spiritual identity in emerging adulthood and across the lifecourse. The second is the contribution of Catholic education to moral-character formation. Both propositions are relatively underdeveloped. The question of students’ personal spiritual identity is overshadowed by the understandable concern with the Catholic identity of schools. The purpose of the current study was to explore the experiences of LDS missionary student-athletes returning to competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (DI). Using Consensual Qualitative Research methods (CQR; Hill, 2012) including a semi-structured interview guide, 10 DI student-athletes/returned LDS missionaries were interviewed regarding their experience (i.e., mean age of 25 years; baseball, cross-country/track and field, football, and swimming). The purpose of this non-experimental predictive-correlational study was to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and religiosity among teachers working in evangelical Christian schools. This study was grounded in two theories: Herzberg's two-factor theory of motivation and spiritual leadership theory. Herzberg's theory of motivation helps explain how teachers become satisfied or dissatisfied by distinguishing between motivational and hygiene factors. Spiritual leadership theory helps understand the importance of spirituality in the workplace and its relation to Christian religiosity in the workplace. Religion and spirituality (RS) are vital aspects of client identity and well-being, yet social work professionals are often ill-equipped to address these in practice due to a lack of specialized training. The National Association of Social Work (NASW) and Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) support spirituality integration, but existing research focuses on Master of Social Work (MSW)-level elective courses. Internalized racism was the topic of the current study. The emphasis of this study was on how African Americans deal with cultural racism and how it impacts their daily lives. One example of early internalized racism is Black teenage girls' dissatisfaction with their skin tones (Pyke, 2010).
