Validation Of The Association Of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Core Competency Model, Dev K. Dalal, Dan Wrona
Journal of Sorority and Fraternity Life Research and Practice
Despite its utility, the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) revised Core Competency model has not been validated; therefore, we conducted two studies to validate the AFA Core Competency Model. First, we developed a performance evaluation tool, applicable across different positions. We then linked Core Competency self-assessment scores to supervisor ratings of performance to assess the extent to which competencies related to job performance. Although not all Core Competencies related to each performance dimension, each Core Competency correlated with at least one dimension of performance. In short, the results suggest that the Core Competencies are, in general, related to job performance, …

Automation will alter the work of accountants in the coming years. However, accountants will always have a central role to play in business. In order to continue to thrive, the profession will need to position itself to capitalise on the opportunities that automation will bring. This involves identifying areas of work which computers cannot automate, and to focus on deepening contributions in these areas. This calls for a radical transformation of accounting education in order to equip accounting graduates with relevant work skills that will allow students to navigate a future workplace where computers and technology are the norm.

The applications of learning outcomes and competency frameworks have brought better clarity to engineering programs in many universities. Several frameworks have been proposed to integrate outcomes and competencies into course design, delivery and assessment. However, in many cases, competencies are course-specific and their overall impact on the curriculum design is unknown. Such impact analysis is important for analyzing, discovering gaps and improving the curriculum design. Unfortunately, manual analysis is a painstaking process due to large amounts of competencies across the curriculum. In this paper, we propose an automated method to analyze the competencies and discover their impact on the overall …
