The purpose of the qualitative case study was to investigate how teachers in a rural high school setting perceived collaborative practices. The case study examined and analyzed the outcomes of teachers’ learning through a personal connection to professional growth through weekly collaborative planning meetings and professional learning communities. Four collaborative groups of SPED and general education teachers from Geometry, 9th Grade Literature, and Biology, and U.S. History within Rural High School originally were asked to participate in the study. Abstract

This case study (Merriam, 1998) describes the experiences, attitudes, and perceptions of four twelfth-grade students at Bob Jones High School (pseudonym) with literacy deficiencies as they used collaborative technology tools in an online after-school tutoring program that focused on reading and writing skills. Leveraging the sociocultural theory of reading (Freebod & Luke, 1990), participants worked collaboratively to strengthen skills while completing tasks. In addition, students used online collaborative tools, based on the principles of the New Literacies Studies (Gee, 2010), to construct and share meaning. Transforming Libraries for Graduate Students

Milner Library and the Graduate School at Illinois State University have collaborated on a variety of initiatives in recent years, such as presenting workshops for graduate students and providing guidance for formatting theses and dissertations. This presentation will highlight one of these collaborations: the inclusion of student presentation materials from the annual University Research Symposium into ISU ReD, the University's institutional repository. The presentation will cover the communication and workflow process between the library and the Graduate School, as well as observations and recommendations for those who may want to pursue a similar initiative on their own campus.

This teaching and learning pedagogy paper demonstrates how group brands were used as interdisciplinary teaching tools in marketing, business, research, and social science classes by applying theories of branding, collaborative learning, affinity, and social identity in experiential learning. Libraries are forming strategic partnerships on and off campus - with faculty, research institutes, community organizations, and scholarly associations. Repositories are playing a key role in facilitating these new relationships by enabling libraries to offer new and valuable services to these constituencies.
