Transformative Learning Theory As Applied To Worship Studies, Loueda B. Bleiler
Transformative Learning Theory As Applied To Worship Studies, Loueda B. Bleiler
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Despite extensive research regarding the application of Transformative Learning Theory in adult education, there is very little literature promoting applying these principles and practices within Christian Worship Studies. Transformative Learning Theory is an educational theory that researches and promotes perspective-changing teaching and learning. Structured educational opportunities and spiritual development through Christian worship both have the potential to be life-altering events in human experience. In each of these dimensions of learning, the final result may include a change in perspective which then leads to modified behaviors. Transformative change occurs in the life of the learner. This qualitative research study explores the …

Raising The Standard Of Living Through Educating People In District 502, Neal Paul
2020 Honors Council of the Illinois Region
Many adults living in District 502, unfortunately, lacked the opportunities to receive a quality education growing up. For this reason, they seek to get a GED diploma in hopes of increasing the standard of living for them and their families. The adult education and English Language Education classes at the College of DuPage provide the necessary resources for this. They offer five classes that differ based on the subjects tested on the GED exam, these being social studies, math, science, writing, and interpreting literature and art. The classes require no fees, are available at multiple locations including online, and can …

Instructional Design Capstones Collection
Homelessness in America is not unique. In fact, homelessness in America has been part of the American fabric for centuries. According to Wikipedia, homelessness surfaced as a national issue in the 1870's; thousands of homeless people suffered in urban cities across the country. (Stanford, 2018). There was an extreme increase in homelessness in the United States after the Great Depression, which generated nearly two million people migrating across the United States. In the 1980's homelessness increased in America due to extreme budget cuts in social service programs and in the year 2009, data showed 1.5 million children in the United …

A Phenomenological Exploration Of The Non-Academic Factors That Cuban Female Non-Native English Speakers Perceived To Have Been Principal Influences On Their Successful Attainment Of A Baccalaureate Degree In The U.S., Nelson Magana
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Cubans arrive in the U.S. with more formal education than other Latino immigrants, and they arrive to communities with long standing networks of support. Though their baccalaureate degree attainment is better than their non-Cuban Latina counterparts, Cuban women still lag behind White, non-Latina women. The qualitative study aims to explore the principal influences and non-academic factors that 15 adult Cuban non-native English-speaking women in South Florida attribute to the successful attainment of their baccalaureate degree.
There are many differences among the various immigrant Latino communities in the U.S., and Cuban women are largely absent from the research. Nearly 75% of …

Since 2007, Boston has made tremendous strides in shedding its designation by Bicycling Magazine as one of the “Worst Biking Cities” (Zezima, 2009, p. A12) by designating over 92 miles of bike lanes throughout the city and introducing bicycle initiatives like Boston Bikes, the Hubway bicycle sharing program. These efforts have resulted in a dramatic rise in the number of cyclists in Greater Boston and a decrease in accidents involving bicycles ((Pedroso, Angriman, Bellows & Taylor, 2016). While the quantitative research has been primarily positive, a 2017 survey initiated LivableStreets and the Longwood Area Cyclists of commuters in the Longwood …

IT WAS THE experiences of World War II that made me, along with others, realize that if peace were to be maintained we would need a more enlightened citizenry, more people qualified in the occupations and professions, and more understanding of the international scene. During the war it had become apparent that adults, under great pressure and in short periods of time, could learn how to rivet (Rosie the Riveter!), how to speak new languages, how to operate the machines of war, and how to become leaders. Clearly, adult men and women could learn 'new tricks'. They could acquire the …
