Helping Students Maximize Their Degrees As Competitive Tools: The Value Of Experiential Learning, Cassandra Spencer, April Perry

It is a common misconception among students that following graduation there will be an abundance of job opportunities, and by simply earning a degree, they will be competitive in the job market. Through a review of relevant literature, this article examines college graduate employment statistics and the skills employers desire most in new hires. Using this literature as a contextual lens, the benefits of experiential learning as a way for college students to maximize their degree is discussed.
