Literacy in secondary mathematics continues to be difficult for many. Mathematics teachers and researchers continue to develop support documents for secondary math teachers. It is important to utilize the literacy strategies already established by other content areas. It is feasible to adjust these strategies to suit the needs of mathematics students. Literacy across the content areas is a relatively new idea in education, but literacy in mathematics is even more foreign. It is necessary to use the available literacy strategies to develop materials applicable in the secondary mathematics classroom.

The Response to Intervention (RtI) model has transformed the methodology behind education and the way teachers instruct their students. This model focuses on giving students the instruction they need before the gap between them and their peer' increases. This model was created using a three tier system. All students within a school receive instruction at one of these tiers. Many intervention programs have been created to help teachers instruct students at each of these tiers and in each content area. Howard Gardner first proposed his theory of Multiple Intelligences and the bodily-kinesthetic intelligence in 1983. Unfortunately, almost three decades later, teacher programs still do not train teachers about Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence in depth; nor do they train teachers how to integrate Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence into daily learning procedures and classroom environment. Schools focus very little on other factors that contribute to how successful a person might be in life, throughout life. The purposes of this research project were to: (a) explore the processes of self-directed learning and self-regulation throughout young adulthood, and (b) determine how young adults apply the concepts and principles of self-directed learning and self-regulation in goal setting and goal achievement. The researcher reviewed six major adult learning concepts and constructs, including self-directed learning and self-directedness, self-regulation and self-regulated learning, experiential learning, dialogue learning, critical reflection, and transformational learning, in order to better understand the autonomous and self-directed learning processes that adults engage in on a daily basis. The number of students in American schools whose first language is not English has grown dramatically in the past twenty years. Crawford (2004) reports that the Number of Limited English Proficient (LEP) students nearly doubled in the 1990s. According to Crawford, the number of LEP students in 2001 was more than 8 percent of the K-12 enrollment in American public schools. Goldenberg reports (2008) that in 1990 one in 20 public school students was an English Language Learner (ELL) and in 2008 the figure was one in nine. Physicians in the U.S. often turn to medical specialty societies as a primary source of the continuing education credits they need to maintain licensure and certification. In recent years, these requirements have been increased. Many physicians prefer live educational activities, but the cost of producing these events is prohibitive given the reduction in funding available to many societies. One of the challenges of modern medical schools is finding a way for students to practice their patient care skills before they interface with a live patient. Human simulated patients are realistic manikins that act like real patients in both sounds and actions. This project aligns the curriculum taught in eighth grade mathematics courses in School District 27J to the Colorado Academic Standards (CDE, 2009b). This project includes a yearly planning matrix, for implementation in the 2010-2011 school year. The review of literature defined curriculum and the benefits of curriculum alignment. This information helped to create the yearly planning matrix that aligned the current eighth grade resources to the new standards. The main goal of this project is to ensure that all students in eighth grade receive consistent instruction in each standard, which leads to success on the state standardized tests.

The existing level of corporate leadership talent is inadequate to sustain successful business enterprises. Inexperienced leaders and managers have limited access to resources and opportunities to gain experience. Training programs are insufficient to promote the development of leadership skills. A mentoring program can address the gaps in leadership development in corporate environments. Relevant literature on mentoring was utilized to develop a recommendation on a mentoring program for leadership growth and development. A PowerPoint presentation was created to illustrate the recommended model.
