There has been much dispute as to the content and experiences sign language interpreting programs need to include, but there have been no clearly identified characteristics of successful interpreter education program s shown to result in …

An Investigation Into Predictors Of Middle School Mathematics Achievement As Measured By The Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, Cheryl Thomasson Dec 2010

An Investigation Into Predictors Of Middle School Mathematics Achievement As Measured By The Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, Cheryl Thomasson

Masters Theses and Doctoral Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to locate variables from 2006 and 2007 Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) that could predict mathematics performance on the 2008 CRCT for a cohort of 449 students in two middle schools in Murray County in north Georgia. The student population was 80% Caucasian, 17% Hispanic, and 3% other. It was hypothesized that the predictors would be influenced by the high level of students eligible for free or reduced lunch. Logistic regression was applied to three data sets, all students, students from Bagley and Gladden Middle Schools. Sixth-grade CRCT mathematics percent correct was the only …

A Comparative Analysis Between Skilled Nursing Facilities Experiencing High Versus Low Resident Transfer Injury Rates, David Joseph Weitz

Masters Theses and Doctoral Dissertations

The health care industry is under siege with muscular skeletal disorders (MSD), the vast majority of which are directly related to the manual repetitive transfer or repositioning of residents/patients from one position to another. Two purposive sample groups were selected from over 200 nursing home facilities and identified as the “high” injury rate sample group and the “low” injury rate sample group. The research study used a mixed method analysis with a causal-comparative methodology for examining the differences between the sample groups. The first research question explored: Did skilled nursing facilities with a high injury rate compare to low injury …
