"Technology has always occupied an important space within the American education system. "When Beverly Gordon remarked that the twenty-first century would be marked by a 'battle for control over who would educate minorities within Western societies and the nature of that education' ( 1990, p. 88), I do not think she or anyone else could have imagined what would be the role of information technologies in this fight.
