AbstractThe use of collaborative learning teams is successful at many traditional higher education institutions. However, the use of collaborative learning teams at 3 University X campuses was noted as a source of frustration for students and may affect student satisfaction. Lower satisfaction rates equate to lower rates of success, graduation, referrals, and retention. The purpose of this study was to explore student satisfaction with the use of collaborative learning teams and how learning teams affect students' educational experiences at University X. The study explored first-year composition (FYC) success by students who were initially enrolled in developmental English at a public university in the western United States. The study site redesigned its developmental English program to increase time to completion and completion rates of FYC and minimize time to completion of that course by developmental students, yet no evaluation had been conducted to determine the effects of the redesigned program. Nontraditional undergraduate students have had a high attrition rate over the course of a 4-year program at a for-profit northeastern university. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions and experiences of nontraditional undergraduate dropout students about the influence of academic difficulties, social life, and unresolved educational and occupational goals on leaving the university before graduating. Student performance data reporting between traditional public schools (TPS) and public charter schools (PCS) is not uniform and cannot easily be compared by enrolling parents. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine if achievement scores of students in TPS and PCS can be used to uniformly compare student performance. Medical assistants (MAs) and nurses provide primary care to patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, differences in their standard workflow were observed to affect the provision of preventive care. This warranted intervention due to prevalence of ongoing HIV-related stigma that affects HIV prevention and care. Teacher effectiveness is a key driver of student achievement but persistently difficult to measure. Although precollege student surveys are one cost-effective alternative to traditional observation measures, little empirical research has been conducted on their factor structure. The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of the Tripod Survey, a widely adopted precollege survey, as a measure of teacher effectiveness. The dataset was the Measures of Effective Teaching (Year 1, N = 1,024 Grade 9 classroom sections, 20,500 students; Year 2, N = 488 Grade 9 classroom sections, 8,658 students). According to an evaluation completed by the local health department in the state where the project was conducted, patients were not returning to the emergency department (ED) for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) rabies vaccine as recommended. Educating the ED providers on care, who are usually the first point of contact after an animal bite with possible rabies virus transmission, is critical to improving patients' outcomes secondary to rabies postexposure. The original purpose of this study was to conduct a quantitative quasi-experimental study to compare a treatment group of teachers with training in the cognitive behavioral ABC model to a control group and examine differences in the average count of referrals to school counselors for students who exhibited disruptive behaviors.
