Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

This study was designed to secure plausible framework for Taiwanese elementary teachers to enhance their teaching technique in science. Two major tasks were accomplished. First, Strategies and Components (SC) embraced in industrial arts projects and science activities were identified by reviewing literatures. Then, six categories were adopted to distinguish these traits. Second, the elementary teachers' perspectives, in terms of importance, feasibility, and adoptability, toward these SC(s) were investigated. The second task was accomplished using self-administered questionnaire survey method to collect data related perspectives toward these SC(s). An Analysis Of Concerns Of Secondary Mathematics Teachers In The Implementation Of The Curriculum And Evaluation Standards For School Mathematics , Patsy J. Fagan

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The purposes of this investigation were: (1) to identify the categories of the stages of concerns secondary mathematics teachers have regarding the implementation of the Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics (Standards) (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, 1989); (2) to investigate the existence of a relationship between the concerns and teacher demographic, participation in mathematics education organizations, content knowledge of the Standards, and philosophical consistency variables; and (3) to determine if the variables could predict, with a reasonable amount of accuracy, the categories of stages of concerns. All mathematics teachers of grades 9-12 who were members of the ...

Development And Feasibility Study Of A Teacher Performance-Based Pay Plan , Terry Andrew Elfrink

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The primary purpose of this study was to develop a turnkey model of a more comprehensive and accurate merit pay plan based on the total systems approach to teacher evaluation. This study reviewed the current incentive pay literature and validated the need, potential format, variables, and procedures for the development and implementation of the plan's algorithms. Finally, this study examined the cost feasibility of the model in terms of teacher compensation using a California school district's financial infrastructure; The review of literature substantiated three overwhelming reasons for the use of teacher performance-based pay plans: (1) to increase recruitment ...
