While critical approaches are an accepted teaching philosophy (Aukerman, 2012; Behrman, 2006; Luke et al., 2010), there requires further inquiry of theoretical and pedagogical practices for critical multicultural teaching of culturally diverse literature in the elementary context. To meet this need, institutions are focusing their study abroad and international service-learning programs to provide students with international experiences (Bringle & Hatcher, 2011). Government support for such programs is driven by advancing globalization, promoting economic competitiveness, and ensuring national security (Hantzopoulos & Shirazi, 2014). Many sports studies investigated elite performance level or experienced athletes whereas there are few studies addressing non-experienced or volunteer coaches’ perspectives. Empirically, the effects of self-regulated learning (SRL) in sports performers have been proven in a variety of athletes. Meanwhile, few studies have addressed coaches’ perspectives of using SRL strategies to facilitate their athletes to develop athletic performance.
