The primary purpose of this study was to examine the instructional leadership behaviors of the superintendent during an era of educational reform in Virginia. Specifically, the study sought to determine what behaviors of the superintendent contributed to improvement in student achievement on the Standards of Learning assessment. Superintendent instructional behaviors were explored in relation to the five points of the conceptual framework drawn from the literature and professional standards of the superintendency: (1) The leadership style for the superintendent must be collaborative and exercised between teachers, administrators and other constituents; (2) Superintendents must be able to articulate a clear vision …

The major purpose of this study was to assess the relationships between the perceptions of self-efficacy of a school's teachers, the job satisfaction of a school's teachers, the academic achievement of a school's students, and a school's socioeconomic status.;The theoretical base for this study centers around the work of Bandura (1982, 1995) in the area of teacher self efficacy. Additionally, Herzberg, Mausner, and Snyderman's (1959) Motivation/Hygiene Theory and Maslow's (1968) Motivation Theory provide the theoretical base for the area of teacher job satisfaction.;Teacher self-efficacy and job satisfaction data were collected through teacher completion of paper/pencil questionnaires. The purpose of this study was to identify the current stated purposes of Christian schools and the reasons parents give for choosing to send their children to these schools. The methodology was essentially a comparative analysis of multiple sources. Documents from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the professional literature, and the sample schools were analyzed. Administrators and parents from selected Christian schools were interviewed and their statements were also analyzed.;Comparative analysis was used to reduce the coded statements Categories that child/student environment, and to emergent themes and then to common categories emerged were: (1) faith/spiritual development, (2) development, …
