Companies that lack an in-depth understanding of leadership development program evaluation may invest in a program that achieves suboptimal results. However, there is no generally prescribed framework for the evaluation of leadership development programs. Thus, the purpose of this action research paper is to provide the basis for vetting leadership development programs based on their organizational fit and investment value, training methodologies, workplace development approaches, coaching and development support, and targeted business outcomes.

This synthesis paper details my journey as an action researcher to evaluate the role of metacognition in acquiring, maintaining, and extending performance in the online video game Team Fight Tactics (TFT). Metacognitive skills contribute towards optimizing practice and strategic adaptability, which are fundamentals for improving performance in TFT. As a TFT coach, I created a theoretical model for video game coaching that focuses on developing metacognitive skills as a mean to improve TFT performance. While imaginative play, music, movement, and the visual arts are established components of the curriculum in early childhood education (ECE), teacher-guided story drama, or “improvised role play stimulated by a story” (Booth, 2005, p. 8), is an underutilized arts-based practice that supports children’s early literacy skills, creativity, and enjoyment of learning. Team FX is a team that trains for endurance events. Coach Gary Walker launched the team in 2005was started by in response to his own experiences training with other endurance event teams.
