As teachers implement the National Science Education Standards (1996) many must change the instructional methods they have used throughout their careers. This handbook will assist teachers to be facilitators in inquiry-based classrooms. The nine units of this handbook have been implemented for three years in an eighth grade classroom and have been used and modified by three different teachers to meet their own needs. The units in this handbook were chosen by MSAD #3, Unity, Maine, to reflect the curriculum requirements of The State of Maine Learning Results (1997). A General Student Senate resolution passed last April that encourages student organizations not to associate with the American Red Cross because of accusations of gay discrimination which have caused concern over campus blood drives. The controversy stems from a Food and Drug Administration policy originating in 1983. The policy prohibits all men who have ever had sex with any other man since 1977 from donating blood. Since this time, ·technology has reduced the risk of contracting HIV through blood donations to about one unit per two million donations, according to the Red Cross Web site.

BridA is a group of four Slovenian artists who formed a working collaborative while working on their respective graduate degrees. Their work spans between the technological and traditional as well as the scientific and artistic. Through their work they explore the possibilities of the information of science as expressible visual content in the art. Their methods cross continually from the digital to the analog. As a collective they work not only as artists but entrepreneurs within the context of the newly forming creative economy of Slovenia.

Guy Perron begins his second season as the head women's ice hockey coach at Maine. In his first season he led the Black Bears to a 14-15-3 record. Perron, a 1990 graduate of the University of Maine, served as a volunteer assistant with the Black Bear men's program and was instrumental in leading Maine to a berth in the national championship game. He also served as interim coach of the women's program the prior to his appointment. Perron returned to Maine in 2003 after serving as captain of the Black Bears in 1988-89 and 1989-90.
