Since Fall 2020, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College librarians discovered some new post-COVID realities for our college including: more online asynchronous classes being offered; short semester sessions; the declining number of instructors requesting information literacy sessions for their classes; and fewer students visiting our campus libraries. During the Fall 2020 semester, librarians started to discuss how we could create research modules in our Canvas learning management system. Instructors could then request to be added to a specific Canvas research module so they can copy over the module into their course sections in Canvas. Considering the fact that the our librarians …

A graduate course at Eastern Kentucky University included a significant Service-Learning project that evaluated and made recommendations about the University’s Writing Intensive program in collaboration with University administrators. The project’s goals included making sure that students have quality writing courses, that faculty are supported in teaching Writing Intensive courses, and that students develop the writing skills necessary to be successful in their professional lives. Additionally, the goals of Service-Learning center both on learning outcomes and community engagement, making it an effective method for cultivating this collaboration.

Educators use agile and transparent learning procedures that require students to analyze, assess and critique theoretical perspectives. This paper highlights the use of Miro board technology, allowing students to engage in collaborative team work to create a visual representation of a theory, increasing their proficiency as a theory driven occupational therapist. Students reported that Miro boards decreased feelings of isolation, created a sense of community, encouraged creativity, and promoted a collaborative, meaningful learning experience. Effective teaching during the COVID pandemic provided learners multiple opportunities to track their learning progress with substantive and timely feedback.

Funded by a National Endowment for Humanities (NEH) Humanities Collections and Reference Resources Foundations Grant, the UA Little Rock Center for Arkansas History and Culture’s “Mapping Renewal” pilot project focused on creating access to and providing spatial context to archival materials related to racial segregation and urban renewal in the city of Little Rock, Arkansas, from 1954-1989. This session will describe a unique collaboration that resulted in development of a strategic research assignment design supported by relevant information literacy sessions. This effort stems from an existing relationship between research librarians and an instructor who was previously a graduate assistant in Research & Instruction Services and became an instructor of a general education course in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In 2014, Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Woodward Library developed an online, interactive video tutorial for the American Psychological Association (APA) Style Guide. APSU’s College of Education (CoE) approached the library about creating a tutorial similar to an existing video, Plagiarism: Making the Right Choices, for use in their upper division and graduate level courses. Through a collaborative process using content previously in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, the library generated a script, storyboards, and eventually a full video. Now, how best to engage the students with the assessment?

Faculty and librarian collaboration is key in the quest for information literacy. As part of the reaccreditation effort at Lord Fairfax Community College -- a two-year institution in northwestern Virginia -- the QEP Leadership Team sought LFCC Librarians’ assistance in a multifaceted, 5-year, information literacy initiative. This effort included the addition of a librarian to the all-faculty QEP Leadership Team, the redesign of composition courses, and professional development through a new LFCC program: “Seeking the Truth: Faculty-Librarian Collaboration Mini-Grants.”

This study focuses on the impact of intentional teaching in the areas of interpersonal and professional skills for students in grades 5-8, and a collaboration between students in the EKU School of Business and Model Laboratory School to apply skills learned in order to develop leadership and entrepreneurial strategies. The study illustrates the positive relationship developed between Model and the EKU School of Business through trainings and events. A series of brief evaluation surveys and other school-level data were used to demonstrate the results of the year-long collaboration. Overall, results demonstrate how both groups of students benefited from the experience.

Milner Library and the Graduate School at Illinois State University have collaborated on a variety of initiatives in recent years, such as presenting workshops for graduate students and providing guidance for formatting theses and dissertations. This presentation will highlight one of these collaborations: the inclusion of student presentation materials from the annual University Research Symposium into ISU ReD, the University's institutional repository. Throughout the semester librarians hear from faculty that there is no time for library instruction. This is especially true for science courses where lab work is required. The Biomedical Sciences program at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) is a rigorous, hands-on laboratory-based curriculum with course work covering physics, chemistry, biology, microbiology, molecular biology, and genetics. This poster will show how a large university developed an on-demand library readiness mini-course online that has recently become a requirement for all undergraduate orientation classes, both in-person and online.
