The DePaul University IMSP1 was designed as a longitudinal cohort program. Two cohorts of up to 25 teachers each will be supported. The second cohort is offset by one calendar year. Each teacher will complete a sequence of 12 university graduate-level courses (48 quarter hours), over two and one-half years, leading to a Masters of Science in Science Education (MSSE) degree. Thus, all successful participants will meet or exceed requirements of the designation “highly qualified” as described in the MSSE proposal quoted here.

Sociology has a role to play in the development of multiculturalism and, therefore, the facilitation of interreligious dialogue. Multiculturalism does not merely refer to the coexistence of a plurality of cultures but is a social context that encourages the possibilities for harmonious interactions of different cultures. Soci- ology may contribute in meaningful ways to multiculturalism by the thematic development of a number of areas concerning the study of societies and civiliza- tions. This paper examines the concept of empowerment. It also discusses some of the income generating activities of the Agency for Adult and Non-formal Education (AANFE), Oyo State. This was with the view to determining how income-generating activities have helped adult women to develop skills in their different vocations and how these programmes have made participants to become self-reliant and improved their standard of living. The number of minority scholars in North American universities and
colleges has increased steadily since the 1980s (Harvey, 2003; U.S.
Department of Education, 2002). This has resulted in some publications
that explore various issues encountered by minority scholars in general
(e.g., Belcher & Conner, 2001; Braine, 1999; Kingston-Mann & Sieber,
2001) and female faculty in particular (Li, 2005; Liang, 2005; Lin et al., 2004;
Vargas, 2002). This body of work shows that minority faculty encounter various

T his book project began over a coffee break at the American Educational
Research Association in Seattle several years ago when we
shared our own experiences and excitement as new faculty members
trying to establish ourselves in the familiar yet strange academy. The academy

Several methods for evaluating the influence of antecedents on challenging behaviour have been described in the literature, however the portability of these methods within the classroom has been questionable. The purpose of this paper will be to provide a practical understanding of evidence-based practices used in the assessment and management of instructional antecedents. The importance of understanding the relationship between instructional antecedents and desired learner responses will be examined within the context of two adolescent learners with developmental disabilities who experienced challenging behaviour.
